Recipes for Life:  Reflections from a Female Entrepreneur & Nonagenarian on 60+ Years in Business

Chicken Shack, a 65-year old Metro Detroit restaurant group, was founded in 1956 by John and Iola Sobeck in Royal Oak, MI.  John and Iola’s entrepreneurial dream blossomed from a seasonal ice cream shop into a carry-out and dine-in business with more than 23 locations throughout Michigan. The restaurant concept will soon be expanding outside of Michigan as Sobeck’s® Detroit’s Original Chicken Shack™.

As the co-founder and matriarch of the family and business, Iola will share some of her personal “recipes” for success.  Additionally, she will share nuggets of wisdom on life: family, marriage, business, leadership and beyond.
Today, there are four generations of Sobecks working to keep Chicken Shack the best tasting food in America and to carry on John and Iola’s legacy of great customer service.
