Founded in 1984, Sage Hospitality set out to be the best hotel owner and operator in the business. Through 35 years of creating valued partnerships with internationally recognized hotel brands, Sage grew a portfolio focusing on running successful select and full-service hotels. In 2006, Sage Restaurant Group was created using Sage’s hotels as the original traffic driver and expanding to local exposure, driving new customers and aggressive results on the food and beverage side of the experience.

In 2006, Sage Restaurant Group was created using Sage’s hotels as the original traffic driver and expanding to local exposure, driving new customers and aggressive results on the food and beverage side of the experience.Eleven years later, Sage Restaurant Group owns and operates 11 unique restaurant concepts with more coming nationwide. Also in 2006, Sage made its first mark in the creative branding field with the Nines, part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection in Portland, Oregon. With the results and reviews pouring in from Sage’s first flagship in branding, the team was hooked, the bar for experiential travel was set high. Sage began to look for more creative opportunities—taking a dive into creating modern luxury experiences, which led to The Curtis Hotel in Denver, The Crawford Hotel at Denver Union Station and The Logan, Philadelphia’s Hotel.

Taking places that have become tired and adding an energy to them through innovative design, art infusion, strong leadership and creative solutions, Sage Hospitality continues to grow and lead the hospitality industry in development, investment and management. Join Sage Hospitality's Walter Isenberg, Co-Founder, President & CEO, as well as Zack Neumeyer, Chairman, as they discuss their journey in creating brands and service experiences that have consolidated the boutiques, staved off the larger competition and re-imagined spaces that celebrate the artful and unexpected.

SPEAKERS

Walter Isenberg, Co-Founder, President & CEO, Sage Hospitality

Not one to slow down, Walter started Sage more than 30 years ago with partner Zack Neumeyer and has only moved forward, fast. As CEO of Sage Hospitality, he directs all company operations including management, real estate investment and brand development, with an emphasis on community giving and teaching the next generation of great leaders. He also partnered with Sage Restaurant Group’s Peter Karpinski in 2006 to create high-volume restaurants within urban hotels, upping the value and revenue for Sage investors. Results driven and creative, Walter is a member of the Union Station Alliance, the group responsible for revitalizing Denver Union Station and creating the high-performing Crawford Hotel.  He created Sage’s art program which provides locally curated art in newly built or renovated hotels.  Now, he is leading Sage toward a new adventure, creating places that people want to go to, not through; by cultivating new experiences within the walls of Sage Hotels and Restaurants.

Setting the trend for Cornell University graduates at Sage, Walter graduated from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University in a year that he refuses to disclose. He is a member of Marriott International’s Owner Advisory Board American Hotel Lodging Association Government Affairs Committee as well as a board member of Visit Denver, who inducted him into the Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame in 2010. In Denver his community impact is prominent as co-creator of Amp the Cause, the Downtown Denver Partnership, The Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Metropolitan State University Denver Board of Trustees.
