Faced with the reality of the compressed holiday season and the unlikelihood of signing a letter of intent or even finding an M&A transaction that would have generated interest before the end of 2019, many of my clients’ thoughts shifted toward 2020 and the effect an economic downturn may have on a small to medium-sized business owner’s ability to sell or purchase in the M&A market.
