The Impact of the COVID-19 Crisis on Private Credit

This panel brings together a group of highly experienced private credit practitioners who will share their perspectives as investors, managers, and fund advisors to assess the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on this asset class:

  • What is happening in private credit portfolios?
  • When to relax covenants on borrowers versus pulling the plug, given historic recovery rates on asset-backed versus cash flow based loans?
  • How to be proactive in communicating with investors to reassure them and provide guidance on portfolios?
  • How are fund-level leverage, choice of fund structure, and portfolio construction/concentrations, impacting managers' ability to navigate through this crisis?
  • What are some timely credit opportunities/strategies, given the market dislocations, such as sales of loan portfolios due to redemption pressures and distressed and special situations?
  • What is the outlook for fundraising and will there be a shakeout of GPs who lacked down cycle experience?
  • When will this recession come to an end, assets/risk reprice, things normalize, and new originations resume?
